Our College
GOVT. DEGREE COLLEGE KHOUR: Khour is an ancient town, established 800 years back, a place of religious and geographical importance in Tehsil Akhnoor, located in Jammu district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located nearly south of Akhnoor, bearing 169 degree from Akhnoor to Khour. The area (in 2020) is 503.1 square Kilometres with a population of 88282.
Government Degree College, Khour was first established in an under-developed area of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir which was facing vulnerability such as remoteness and isolation, low per capita income, limited diversification, etc. at that time to provide higher education to the students which is important for them to compete in this competitive era.
After initially functioning at Government Higher Secondary School, Khour in a prefabricated structure with a strength of hundred students in the Arts stream, subsequently the college shifted to its own campus in February 2018 at Nai Basti Narayana at a distance of 55 Kilometres from district headquarters. The college building has 9 classrooms including one smart class room and five laboratories for science subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Computer Applications for approximately 600 students enrolled in the college for the session 2023-24.
