National Librarians' Day is observed annually on August 12th in India, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the visionary behind the country's library science framework. This day serves as a platform to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of librarians to society and to highlight the significance of libraries as centres of learning and community engagement. An innovative book jar service has also been started where book recommendations are offered in a fun, randomized way—often using a jar filled with slips of paper, each naming a different book or genre.
