GDC Khour Organizes Poetry & Poster making Competition to celebrate International Mother Tongue Day

The Department of Dogri Govt. Degree College Khour organized a competition for the students of 1st, 3rd and 5th Semesters of College on the eve of “International Mother Tongue Day” under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.

The entire programme was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Tarsem Lal Principal of the College. The response was overwhelming as large number of students participated in this competition to show their enthusiasm towards the mother language (Dogri). Dr. Rajesh Manhas Head of the Department of Dogri GDC Khour, enlighten the session with the importance of the mother tongue in the present scenario as it helps us to connect with our roots and helps in the holistic development of the individuals. He also appraised the house about the great philosophers, writers, intellectuals and scientists who were deep rooted to their mother tongue and able to achieve the highest level of recognition as they are always connected  to their mother tongue and values. Anju Devi of Semester 3rd secured Ist position, Heena Rajput of Semester 5th got 2nd position while the 3rd position was bagged by Shilpa Devi of Semester 3rd.

In the poster making competition Kajal Devi of Semester 3rd secured 1st position, Monia Devi of Semester 3rd got 2nd position while the 3rd position was bagged by Naresh Sharma of Semester 5th.

Principal of the College also emphasized that this type of sessions should be organized on regular basis so that the students feel connected to their roots which develops sense of pride and acknowledgement among students. He added that mother tongue give a definite shapes to our feelings and thoughts which it helps individuals to develop their critical thinking and literacy skills.
